Corrie supports Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz Stape, was interviewed on ITV's This Morning today. She was there to promote Fiz and Hope's cancer storyline.

Jennie says she's pleased to be doing this storyline because of the feedback and messages from parents and families, some of whom have children going through the same disease as Hope. 

Jennie says she has met some incredible people because of the story who are saying thankyou to her for Corrie raising the issue of childhood cancer.

Jennie has visited the Royal Manchester children's hospital and there's a short clip of her on one of the wards interviewing some of the staff and poorly children.

Happy 50th Birthday, Kevin Webster

It's Kev Webster's 50th birthday on Thursday September 3rd 2015 (source: Corriepedia) and it's being celebrated on screen tonight, Wednesday September 2nd.

Here's Kevin from his first appearance on the show, back in 1983.

After completing his course in 1983 aged 18, Kevin looked for work but couldn't find anything until he had a lucky encounter with Alf Roberts while hitchhiking back to Weatherfield in October that year.

Alf's car broke down while passing him by, and Alf offered to give Kevin a lift home if he could get it going.

When Kevin carried out the repairs with no trouble, the grateful shopkeeper recommended him to Brian Tilsley, owner of Tilsley's Garage in Albert Street, as Brian was looking for a mechanic to work alongside him. After a successful interview, Kevin was taken on.

Deirdre Barlow named The Guardian's fashion muse

The Guardian today have an article entitled "The top 20 autumn fashion trends you need to know about".  Well, all I know is I'll be slapping on a cardi when it gets chilly, but if you're a fashionista then you might like to read it so you know what to wear.

Listed as a muse for autumn fashion is our own, much missed Deirdre Barlow.

Here's what they say about here: "The fashion industry has decreed that Wes Anderson’s most stylish character, Margot Tenenbaum, is this season’s muse; her shabby fur coats and grubby eyeliner exactly what the industry wants to achieve right now. We don’t disagree, but we think the much-missed Deirdre Barlow is an even more apt inspiration: she did oversized glasses and prim blouses on a 1970s north-of-England budget while Anderson was still in short trousers."

Preview of tonight's Coronation Street - Weds 2 September

Wednesday 2nd September
FIZ AND TYRONE FACE THEIR WORST FEARS Leaving Hope at Mary’s face-painting class at the community centre, Tyrone heads to the hospital to meet Fiz. At the hospital, the consultant breaks the news to Fiz and Tyrone that Hope has cancer.
KEVIN’S BIRTHDAY DOESN’T GO TO PLAN Tim presents Kevin with a hideous bracelet for his birthday. Not wishing to hurt Tim’s feelings, Kevin makes out he loves it. Meanwhile as Sally makes the preparations for Kevin’s surprise party, Kevin heads off to Bolton to pick up some parts.
IS IT THE END OF THE ROAD FOR TRACY AND ROBERT? Robert calls at No.1 and demands answers. Tracy finally admits to Robert that she unintentionally caused the fire in Carla’s flat. Tracy assures Robert she never set out to kill Carla. Will Robert believe her? And how will Tracy react when Robert insists she has to tell Carla the truth?
ELSEWHERE When Nick heads to work, leaving his wallet in Carla’s flat, Carla pulls out one of Nick’s credit cards and stares at it. Will she take a gamble? Cathy’s determined to conquer her fears of being in her house alone so she can move back home. Simon agrees to behave himself and help out around the flat in return for a new phone. Leanne’s relieved that Simon appears calmer.

Tonight: Corrie legends celebrate ITV's 60th anniversary

As part of ITV's 60th anniversary programmes during September, there'll be a Coronation Street live episode. This will be followed by Coronation Street Live: Uncovered on ITV2.

Two more Corrie connections will be explored in the anniversary programmes.

You Saw Them Here First will air tonight, Wednesday 2 September at 8pm on ITV. 

It's a trip down memory lane where telly legends get to watch old clips of themselves on TV.  Corrie's Rita and Mavis (Barbara Knox and Thelma Barlow) are shown watching their first Coronation Street scene together in The Kabin.

Trailer video: Roy and Cathy in Blackpool

The official Coronation Street website at itv.com/corrie have released another trailer teaser video of events leading up to the Coronation Street live episode that will air in September.

This trailer video is all about Roy and Cathy and whether their friendship will develop into something more.

The video is probably only available to those in the UK so for overseas fans and those who want to know what's going to happen - here it goes.

It appears as if Cathy has confided in Anna about her feelings for Roy and that they are more than just platonic.  She clearly wants to get closer to Roy and Anna encourages her to do so and to be open with Roy about her feelings.  However, when Cathy tries to talk to Roy, he clearly doesn't have a clue what's going on, if anything, between them. There's a touching scene when Cathy covers Roy with a blanket after he falls asleep on the sofa.  And then it's Roy's birthday and she gives him a card in which she's signed "I Love You, Cathy".  Oh dear, is it too much, too quickly for Roy?

The couple are then pictured on Blackpool Beach, which was a destination Roy seems not to have been aware he was travelling to so it might have been a surprise day out from Cathy. Cathy takes off her sandals and runs down to the sea after telling Roy there's something she wants to tell him.  She thinks Roy has followed her into the shallows for a paddle, but when she turns around, Roy has gone... and that's where the video ends.
