Alison King talks about taking break from Coronation Street

As we know, Alison King will be taking a break in 2016 from her role as Carla Connor in Coronation Street.

In a rare interview, Alison King tells The Express about the end of Carla (for now, anyway),

The interview focuses on how Carla finds out about Johnny Connor being her real dad, and how it will ultimately lead to Alison’s exit from Corrie next summer.

She says: “... I have been assured they are not killing me off. I love playing Carla and I am only wanting to try other roles while I still can.

“I am excited about what the future may hold, but obviously it is going to be strange not coming here every day and putting on Carla’s heels and seeing everyone.

But if you don’t try something new and make that leap, you don’t know what you are capable of.”

Alison has already stated that she 'definitely wants to come back' to Coronation Street.  Let's hope she's not away from our screens for too long.

Alison King wins Best Soap Actress, TV Choice Awards 2015

Alison King has won the award for Best Soap Actress in this year's TV Choice Awards. Alison plays Carla Connor in Coronation Street

The TV Choice Awards were held tonight, Monday 7 September in that London.

Winners were announced live on stage at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Alison King on drinking Carla Connor's red, red wine

There's a lovely little interview with Alison King, who plays Carla Connor in Coronation Street.

The interview's in The Express and Alison talks about drinking all the "red wine" on Corrie as Carla.  

 

It's not real wine of course that she has to drink when she's acting. 

“It’s horrible red grape juice,” Alison reveals, wincing at the very thought. “It’s really sweet and sickly. And yes, I sometimes have to drink an awful lot of it.

“I’ve been playing drunk for the past two days. And we’ve been recording out of sequence, so continuity-wise it’s really hard.

 

“I have to remember how much Carla has had to drink, whether she’s had a nap, whether she’s topped up the booze from the night before. I hate watching it.”

Alison King signs up to Corrie until 2016

We already know that Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, will be taking a break from the show for creative reasons.

She confirms in an interview with Digital Spy that she's signed up with the show until May 2016.

She said: "I have just signed till May 2016 - there is a lot to do with Carla yet. I haven't had a chance to think about beyond that. As for storyline - I am starting to get a sense of what it might involve but I don't know any details."

Alison has already confirmed that she 'definitely wants to come back' to the role as Carla.  Read that here.
